There are currently ongoing meetings to open an AIGA chapter in San Antonio. A group of around 20 designers attended the latest meeting held at Murillo Design offices.

The meeting was very helpful in shedding some light on the current situation of the industry locally and that there are designers that want more from it that what is currently offered. Topics like fund raising events to chapter board nominations were addressed at the meeting.

San Antonio is surrounded by cities like Dallas, Houston and Austin, all of which have an AIGA chapter of their own. They all enjoy the spoils that come with putting out great design work, festivals, conventions, design shows, and they have certainly earned them. Those kind of rewards should only motivate us to raise the level and create awareness of how important design is.

More meetings are planned to take place to decide if there are enough people willing to participate to make San Antonio part of a AIGA. Looking forward to the next meeting.
