Flying cities… Martian colonies… spaceships… robots… monorails… bubble-topped cars… atomic explosions
These have all appeared in both drawings of the future in pulp magazines and serious architectural proposals. These have always been interesting to me as a child and now. Kinda like vision of the future in Minority Report, I thought that was really cool or those cool robot hands wearing white gloves on the Jetson’s helping making life oh so easy.
I made my own blueprints for some pretty awesome sci-fi clubhouses and lunar cites in my younger days, I wish I had them to scan today. I watch my son do the same thing; he’s actually working on some pretty amazing amusement parks now. I’d upload them but I don’t want anyone stealing his ideas.
These ideas always spark imagination and most just make us laugh. Some have even come to pass. I’m still waiting for a hover skateboard.
In the 20th century, high and low, fact and fiction mixed in ways that are now impossible to separate.
Enjoy these scans! Leave comments. Let me know what you think.
