Picoso Creative is proud to be part of this collective that will have their first public event on October 8th as part of  Una Noche de La Gloria. You are all invited to attend. Bellow is more information.

“Una Noche de La Gloria is an ambitious project organized by THE CONTEMPORARY ART AND LITERATURE ORGANIZATION (CALO) which encourages the “collecting” of locally produced fine art via an exhibition environment and the discovery of contemporary performance artists via music, film, and literature.”

Despite its significance in today’s culture, Graphic design is an art form that is somehow under-explored and underexposed here in San Antonio. Visual Pulp is proud to represent graphic design at “Una Noche de La Gloria”, hoping that our presence at this prestigious event will help shed some light on the unexpectedly vivid graphic design culture of San Antonio.

We’ll be showcasing work by four very accomplished San Antonio designers (Jason Limón, Rolando Murillo, Gabriel Estrada and Karmen Vidal) and have it up for sale to the public as posters, t-shirts and other hand-silkscreened products.

AIGA San Antonio will be presenting 2 great events this weekend. “Hatch Show Print: Lecture” on Friday, September 16th at 8pm and “Hatch Show Print: Workshop” on Saturday, 17th from 10am – 4pm.  I’ll be attending both, even though the workshop is sold out, you should try to at least make it to the lecture.

As a way to celebrate San Antonio’s Mexican heritage, every year the 16 de Septiembre Commission organizes a month-long celebration of the Mexico’s independence from Spain. This year we were lucky to design this year’s calendar of events and commemorative medal for this very important celebration. Last Wednesday the Commission had a press conference to announce this year’s events, we were able to attend and take some photos that we would like to share with you.

This past Saturday we wanted to do a team bonding exercise by, well, exercising! We were part of the SARR Carrabba’s Classic Half Marathon Relay and Run, we ran as team and we certainly had a great time, despite having to wake up very (VERY!) early and the very persistent South Texan heat.

We had this idea of running this relay run a while back, we wanted to use this as a team bonding experience and also as a excuse to create some interesting T-shirts. We named our Team “The Four Piece Special with Extra Hot Sauce, and All the Fries You Can Gimmie” and we had some great feedback on the Team’s name and of course our very unique T-shirts.

We consider it very important not only to stay active, but  to also find ways in which we can share experiences that will help us stay motivated as a team and help us feed our creativity in very different ways. Is this type of activities that make us be more like a family and not just business partners. We highly recommend you try to do an activity like this with your team. Go outside, enjoy the summer!

I really want for people to attend this event and show their support to the UIW Graphic Design Senior Show. I’m perosnaly very excited to see what these kids are up to, I’m hoping to be impressed.

I’m currently in love with The Phraseology Project, a project started by designer Drew Melton, as a project that…

… is meant to be a running experiment in typography. It is meant to be a framework for exercise and practice in Typography. We try our best to come up with our best work always but more importantly we value practice and healthy process. In other words, these pieces aren’t perfect. But they are honest. We celebrate the process of design and creativity in all of its’ outcomes

I think the idea is genius and I think that Drew and his contributors have created a a great space for creative minds to feed off  on and a place to take small mental break from the daily tedium. I personally been checking it out since I discovered it, just to clear out my mind and get lost on these beautiful creations.
